Canada Shipping Delayed - Why and what it means to you.

Canada shipping delayed due to strike

Canada Postal Worker May Strike - Shipping Delays Expected

Canada's postal service is largely run by unionized employees. Unfortunately, their contract has expired and Canada Post hasn't been able to reach and agreement on new contract terms. As of 7/8/2016 Canada Post has declared that it will lock out union workers from it's facilities starting at Midnight on Monday 7/11/2016 if an agreement isn't reached, causing significant delays or backups of all the mail circulating in Canada.

The union has called for a '30 day truce' to allow for contract negotiations, but we all know how that could go....

What does this mean for you?

If you are a Canadian customer (hellllloooooo neighbor to the north!) and you use our standard, free shipping your package might be delayed at the border. By standard I am talking about orders we send via USPS, which is handed off to Canada Post. My contacts tell me that Canada Post might stop incoming standard mail for a small period of time if the 'truce' doesn't hold, how small is unclear and depends on whether the union Postal Workers are locked out.

But there is hope! If you are in Canada, and want to ensure your package arrives regardless of any postal strike that does occur, here is what to do:

If you haven't ordered yet:

  1. Use the Contact Us form and put "Shipping Upgrade Request" in the subject line.
  2. Send us your Address, and what pieces you are looking to purchase.
  3. We will send you a quote for Fedex shipping, which will run regardless of a postal strike.
  4. Accept the quote, and we will send you a Paypal invoice for your order (NOTE: you do NOT need a Paypal account to pay with a Credit Card on Paypal. I can walk you through the process.)

If you have already placed an order that hasn't shipped:

  1. Use the Contact Us form and put "Shipping Upgrade Request - Existing Order" in the subject line.
  2. Put your Address and order number (you can find this on your order confirmation email).
  3. We will send you a quote for Fedex shipping, which will run regardless of a postal strike.
  4. Accept the quote, and we will send you a Paypal invoice for the shipping upgrade (NOTE: you do NOT need a Paypal account to pay with a Credit Card on Paypal. I can walk you through the process.)

Hopefully Canada Post will get their act together, and you won't even notice an issue. However, I completely understand if you decide you'd rather cancel your order than wait for your package if there IS a strike. You can view our Policy on Cancelations for the terms and conditions of canceling. Something to note is that once your order has shipped, we can't cancel it.

I'm keeping a close eye on the issue, so if a strike does occur we are ready and can take care of the most essential part of Serenity in Chains, YOU, our awesome amazing customers.

UPDATE: THIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED.

Stay Up to Date!
